What is EdTech Scout?

EdTech Scout is an independent, searchable directory of education technology products. Every product is mapped to education standards (LTI, OneRoster, FERPA, WCAG, and 40+ more) and scored on AI capabilities using our AI Depth Score (0-5).

Why we built it

EdTech procurement is broken. Schools and districts spend millions on software without a reliable way to verify standards compliance or understand how deeply AI is integrated. Marketing claims like “AI-powered” are meaningless without evidence.

EdTech Scout brings transparency to the market. We systematically catalog what standards each product supports (and at what level) and how they use AI (from “marketing only” to “AI-first”).

How AI Depth Scoring works

Every product receives an AI Depth Score from 0 to 5:

  • 5 — AI-First: Product is fundamentally AI-native and couldn't exist without AI
  • 4 — AI-Native: AI is core to the product's value proposition
  • 3 — AI-Integrated: Meaningful AI throughout with multiple AI-driven features
  • 2 — AI-Assisted: Basic AI features like auto-grading or simple recommendations
  • 1 — AI-Adjacent: Mentions AI but no clear implementation
  • 0 — No AI: Traditional software with no AI features

Scores are initially generated using AI classification and verified by our team for products scoring 3 and above.
